I went to Camp Takodah and had a great time. My counselor's name was Brian, but he had a nickname- "B-Rock". He is one of Mollee's friends.
I made new friends and saw six of my cousins there. Before my cousin, Joseph, moved to Searcy, he lived in Memphis and he was neighbors with a guy named, Kei Ruddy. I was in a cabin with both of them. This is really funny....the camp didn't have enough beds for me--so I got a cot in the middle of the cabin and all the guys wanted to trade spots with me, but I said, 'no--I'm already set up'. Joseph and I made up stories at night by choosing one word at a time going back and forth until we had a whole story. I laughed so hard my stomach hurt and I couldn't breathe. Then B-Rock told us we'd get cabin points if we could be quiet, but it was just too hard!
Another cool thing was we had shaving cream and we got to spray it all over each other. But my cousin, Sydney, squirted her shaving cream into a big pile in her hand and dunked it on top of my head!! Then, I did the same thing to her. Then it turned into a huge fight. But best thing about the shaving cream fight was that it wasn't PAINFUL because I wore my goggles. This is funny. During the fight I saw someone covered --I mean, COVERED so much that I couldn't tell who it was! So I said, "Who are you?" and then a voice said, "I'm your cousin, Anna", but all I could see was two eyes coming out of all that shaving cream!
Right before lunch each day the had "mail call". Anyone who got letters and packages had to sing for their mail. Aunt Cheryl and Aunt Laurie BOTH sent me packages so I had to sing in front of everyone! They made me sing, "Jingle-Bells". I was really, REALLY embarrassed! I hadn't gotten any mail for 3 days in a row--THEN...they called my name on the 4th day. I went swimming and dropped off the huge rope swing into the water. I think the coolest part of camp was doing a front flip off of the swinging bridge into the water which was about 10-11 feet high. They wouldn't let us do the "zip-line" because the drop-off spot was near a huge rock. We did crafts, and rode horses, and we ate delicious food. My cousin, McKenna, helped us cook cinnamon rolls. YUM! Our sports leader was Michael, McKenna's boyfriend.
We played capture the flag.My cousins, Sydney and Caroline were on the opposite team from me. They won the first game and we won the second game. Then B-Rock gave a loooong speech and had everyone say, "We are no longer separated--we are ONE." Also, my cabin won first place in taking care of our cabin. We won t-shirts that say we were the champions! I got to climb up to the tip top of a mountain to have Bible time! I read 9 verses up there for everyone. We got to go up there at midnight and watch fireworks, too. My cousin, Addison, missed that part, because she was just too sleepy. I felt like I could have jumped off the mountain into the water, but my counselor said not to. Then we had a special banquet on the last night at the mess hall where we praised God and ate some good food plus dessert. (apple pie w/ cream on it) Above everything else...my favorite time of all was FREE TIME!! We could pick anything we wanted to do...like shooting bee-bee guns and stuff like that. But I just went swimming every single time! The end.
